Greenco Tech Coordinates Varis FlexHub 01 Pilot Pathway

Varis Förvaltning commercial building in Gothenburg for the Varis FlexHub 01 thermal energy flexibility pilot

Greenco Tech AB is leading and coordinating the Varis FlexHub 01 pilot pathway in Gothenburg, a real-estate energy flexibility project focused on modular thermal energy storage, hybrid energy integration and practical validation in a commercial-building environment.

Greenco Tech AB is the project-responsible technology company for the pilot pathway and provides the thermal energy storage solution. The project follows a staged validation approach: in the first phase, new BESS and EV charging infrastructure are installed and tested together with the site’s available solar PV and operational data. In the next step, the system is prepared for integration with Greenco’s thermal energy storage technology and a broader smart-control architecture.

Varis Förvaltning plays a central role as the real-estate pilot partner. By contributing a real building environment, operational needs, site access and practical validation conditions, Varis helps create the kind of real-world learning that is essential for moving advanced energy technologies from development toward repeatable market applications.

EnerVectum AB supports Greenco Tech with system integration, smart control and site-level optimisation. Its role is to help connect the Greenco thermal storage solution with the wider site energy system, including available solar PV, new BESS installation, EV charging infrastructure, building systems, operational data and optimisation logic, with the aim of improving energy performance and supporting future flexibility value for the property owner.

A real-world pathway for hybrid thermal flexibility

For Greenco Tech AB, Varis FlexHub 01 represents an important validation pathway for modular thermal storage and hybrid energy systems. The project will support technical learning around thermal storage integration, control interfaces, building-level energy flows and future replication potential for commercial buildings, light industry and local energy hubs.

The pilot pathway is also aligned with Greenco Tech’s broader mission: to develop, test and de-risk advanced thermal technologies that can support fossil-free heating, cooling, storage and future energy flexibility applications.

As the project progresses, Greenco Tech AB will use the learning from Varis FlexHub 01 to further improve its thermal energy storage technology and understand how it can be integrated step by step with the wider energy system. This includes how thermal storage can communicate with BESS, solar PV, EV charging, building systems and smart-control platforms to create more flexible, resilient and customer-oriented energy solutions.

The aim is not only to validate a thermal storage unit, but to understand how thermal storage can become an active value-creating part of a broader energy ecosystem, helping customers improve energy performance, reduce operational risk and prepare for future flexibility opportunities.
